S.CO.M.A.R. srl, Società COstruttrice Macchine e Accessori Relativi was founded by two young engineers, Mario Marchesi and Umberto Scoino. After a short time Mr. Scoino departed and Mr. Marchesi remained the sole partner.
Production of short flat knitting machines for knitted bands. About 350 per year.
Production range is widened to other types of machines like machines to produce baby diapers.
The request for wider machines encourages SCOMAR to produce machines for collars and other trimmings with 80, 100 and 110 cm of knitting width.
SCOMAR is one of the first companies to develop and show at the fair in Milan a simple electronic jacquard machine with individual needle selection. SCOMAR manufactures about 60 jacquard machines per year.
MPX, the first SCOMAR machine with numeric control, is shown for the first time during ITMA in Paris. This will be the first model of the new generation of knitting machines for trimmings.
A.R.M.I. srl becomes the exclusive distributor of all SCOMAR machines.
During this period a new machine is studied and presented: Diginit. This new knitting machine will represent the most advanced range of SCOMAR products.
Diginit has a control system that uses standard electronic components (i.e. a PLC and an industrial PC) and has a very innovative auto diagnostic system.
1994-1997 The ATS (Automatic Tucking System) is developed. It allows to tuck automatically the end portion of yarn inside polo shirt collars.
