Q: What is the benefit of a 3T MRI scanner compared to a 1,5 MRI scanner?
A: A 3T MRI scanner is twice more powerfull than a 1.5T MRI.
3T is ideal for imaging of small bones, breast MRI, musculoskeletal MRI, neurological MRI and vascular MRI, where the smallest details are particularly crucial for diagnosis. However, a 3T machine is not always the best for all types of imaging. 3T has a higher probability of artifacts. An artifact is any object that appears in the image that is not in the original object. These can show up in MRI images as “flow” artifacts due to the movement of blood or fluid.
