GE Discovery MR450 1.5T (60 cm bore)
AMERICA North (USA-Canada-Mexico)
Refurbished GE Discovery MR450 1.5T (60 cm bore) —
the standard-bore sibling of the better-known wide-bore MR450w,
sitting between the legacy Signa HDxt 1.5T and the wide-bore MR450w /
current SIGNA Explorer in GE Healthcare's 1.5T product stack.
Pairs a 1.5T zero-boil-off superconducting magnet with a 60 cm patient bore,
the Discovery-era console and software stack, HDxt-class gradients tuned
with Discovery workflow improvements, a full GE coil ecosystem
(head, CTL spine, body, GP Flex, and standard surface coils), and a modern integrated table.
Typical clinical scope covers the standard 1.5T workload — neuro,
MSK, body, breast, vascular, oncology, and pediatric imaging.
The non-W (60 cm) bore is the right answer for sites that need to
drop a Discovery-era GE 1.5T into an existing 60 cm magnet room
without rebuilding for a 70 cm wide-bore footprint, and for facilities that
prioritize acquisition cost over wide-bore patient comfort.
Compared to the wide-bore MR450w 1.5T, the standard-bore MR450 gives up the
70 cm patient bore in exchange for a meaningfully lower acquisition cost and
a smaller siting footprint. Compared to a Signa HDxt 1.5T,
the Discovery MR450 brings a newer console, modernized workflow,
and an upgraded helium lifecycle. Compared to the current SIGNA Explorer 1.5T,
it gives up the SIGNAWorks software platform and AIR Coil ecosystem at
a much lower capital cost and a mature parts pipeline.
As a GE-trained, engineer-led refurbisher, MIS handles sourcing, refurbishment,
deinstall, magnet ramp-down, transport, ramp-up, install, applications training,
parts inventory, and lifetime engineer-led service. Mobile-trailer and
lease-to-own programs available for capacity, replacement, or interim projects.
