The Siemens SOMATOM Sensation 40 is a precision 40-Slice head
and whole-body computed tomography (CT) scanner designed
to obtain high-resolution images over a wide range of applications.
High-powered, compact, and versatile, the SOMATOM Sensation 40
is a CT scanner that is equipped with Siemens' premium technologies configured
to reduce the scanning time, decrease the radiation dose,
enhance the workflow efficiency, and improve patient comfort and safety.
The multi-slice CT scanner is equipped with the Straton X-ray tube
and the z-Sharp technology also included in the SOMATOM Sensation 64-slice scanners.
The patented z-Sharp tech allows for 40-slice acquisition per rotation and
an isotropic resolution of not more than 0.4 mm voxel size.
The Straton X-ray tube helps in the unparalleled image acquisition
by using an accurately deflected electron beam to create alternating
and overlapping X-ray projections.
These two features improve the spatial resolution, the quality of the image,
and increase the scan information without having to increase the dose.
The Sensation 40 is also provided with Siemens' Speed4D technology
and features a quick gantry rotation speed of 0.37 seconds.
The Speed4D tech is designed to support the workflow and dose-management
on the CT scanner.
The Speed4D and the fast gantry rotation speed enable the SOMATOM scanner
to deliver high spatial resolution and lightning fast scanning speed.
Along with the other premium Siemens' technology,
the Sensation 40 is ideally suited for propriety applications including but not limited
to Volume CT, Dynamic CT, VRT, In Space 4D, Lung Care and NEV, Colon and PEV,
and Dental CT. Also, the Sensation can be upgraded to a 64-slice system.
