Spark Symbiosis Pro SPE-LC-MS

Spark Holland's unique solution for integrated online SPE-LC-MS (XLC-MS) automation.
It offers high flexibility in processing different
sample types by selecting one of three
fully automated operating modes:
LC-MS (direct LC without SPE),
XLC-MS (online SPE in conjunction with LC-MS),
and AMD (advanced method development).
The system ensures reliable injection performance,
accommodates well plates and vials,
allows sample cooling, is available in HPLC and UHPLC versions,
is stackable, allows simultaneous sample preparation and LC,
and enables automated solvent mixing.
It also supports multi-assay processing
and features integrated software control
via SparkLink, Analyst, Xcalibur, and Masslynx.
This allows more samples to be processed per day and per analyst.
Generic templates are available for acidic,
basic, and neutral compounds,
and provides immediate feedback during method optimization.
The temperature control achieved with
the Mistral system is crucial for optimizing HPLC
or UHPLC methods. It ranges from 5 to 90 °C
and allows the programming of temperature gradients
with excellent temperature stability,
as well as an integrated solvent preheater
and vapor sensors.
Spark's HPD (high-pressure dispenser),
originally developed for SPE solvent delivery in online SPE-LC systems,
can also be used for other applications,
such as adding reagents before or
after the column to improve detection.
It offers precise volume dispensing at controlled flow rates,
independent of backpressure up to 300 bar,
and selects between 4-24 solvents/samples.
Offline SPE (solid-phase extraction)
allows the cartridge to be kept fresh
for each sample to avoid retention changes and carryover.
Online SPE (or column switching or 2D LC),
on the other hand, utilizes small sorbent particles
for efficient SPE and sample elution directly
into the LC system via the mobile phase.
This system includes: the Spark Model 931 Conditioned Stacker,
the Spark Model 930 Autosampler,
two Spark Model 750 LC Pumps,
two Spark Model 730 High-Pressure Dispensers,
the Spark Model 725 ACE,
and the Spark Model 885 Mistral.
