Optical coherence tomography is a non-invasive (non-contact)
modern research method that allows visualizing any structures of the eye
with the highest resolution (from 1 to 15 microns).

OCT allows you to determine and evaluate:
• morphological changes in the layer of nerve fibers and retina, the thickness of these structures;
• parameters and parameters of the optic disc;
• structures and components of the anterior segment of the eye.

During the procedure, the patient fixes the gaze of the examined eye on a certain mark,
and if it is impossible to do this, on another, better seeing one.
The operator performs several scans, and then selects the images that are the best in terms of information content and quality.
The results of the examination are presented as various protocols, maps and tables,
allowing visual or quantitative determination of the existing changes.
As a comparison, the normative database embedded in the memory of the tomograph
is used. The table shows the percentage of healthy people with similar indicators.
That is, the less often such changes are noted in the population,
the higher the likelihood that they are a sign of pathology.

OCT is usually used to diagnose or evaluate the effectiveness of treatment in the region of the posterior segment of the eye:
• macular holes;
• hereditary and acquired degenerative changes in the retina;
• diabetic retinopathy;
• glaucoma;
• atrophy, edema and anomalies of the optic disc;
• CVD thrombosis;
• cystoid macular edema;
• proliferative vitreoretinopathy;
• epiretinal membrane;
• retinal detachment.

OCT in the diagnosis of the anterior segment of the eye is used:
• for deep keratitis or corneal ulcers;
• with its help evaluate the angle of the anterior chamber and the functioning of drainage devices in case of glaucoma;
