KNI-581 Radio Magnetic Indicator

The KNI-581 is a Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) from King's Gold Crown series for heavier General Aviation aircraft. This RMI requires a Sin/Cos input. For greater flexibility, see the King KI-229 and KNI-582 RMIs. The KNI-581 works by combining three data points on one indicator. The current aircraft heading from an HSI is shown on the card. The magnetic headings to VOR and NDB stations are shown by the twin needles. Either needle can be switched to show VOR or NDB data. By combining all this information visually, less interpretation is required. This boost in your overall situational awareness is especially helpful when the workload is high. The TSO'd KNI-581 requires the following inputs:

ADF: King KR-85, KDF-800, KDF-805, KDF-8000
HSI: King KCS-305
NAV Receiver: KNR-615, KNR-630, KNR-631, KNR-632, KNR-633, KNR-665/665A, VIR-30
